Sunday Morning Volunteering

At Hillside Community Church, we believe that every person has a unique role to play in our life together. Sundays are a collective effort, and it’s the contributions of our community members that make our gatherings not just run smoothly but truly meaningful. Whether you’re new or have been around for a while, there’s always a way to get involved and make a difference.

Greeter

If you can smile and say “hello,” you’re halfway there! Greeters arrive by 10:20 a.m. to welcome people, hand out bulletins, and kindly suggest that anyone without a name tag make one (because nothing says “friendly church” like knowing someone’s name). You’ll get to people-watch as most of the congregation rolls in fashionably late – then grab your seat around 10:45 and enjoy the service.

Scripture Reader

Do you have a clear voice and a willingness to stand at the lectern for a few minutes? Perfect! Scripture readers receive the reading in advance (so you’ll have time to prepare), and a printed copy will be waiting for you on the lectern when you arrive. You’ll be called forward at the right time—no need to stress about timing. Just step up, take a breath, and bring the words to life for the congregation!

Coffee Hour Hosts

If you believe snacks are a love language, this one’s for you. Coffee hour hosts arrive 15–20 minutes before the service to set out their tasty contributions on the food table. We aim to have at least two hosts each Sunday, so the work is a team effort and no one feels overwhelmed. After coffee hour wraps up, you’ll tidy the space, fold tablecloths with the precision of someone who’s just doing their best, and run the dishwasher (it’s easier than your home model, we promise). And don’t worry – there are always helpful volunteers who stick around to lend a hand with the cleanup.

Music & Creative Contributors

If you have a gift for music, theater, or other creative arts, this is your chance to shine! Musicians can contribute by singing, playing an instrument, or helping to lead congregational music. Theater enthusiasts or other creatives might assist with dramatic readings, skits, or visual storytelling to enhance worship. Your talents can help bring energy and depth to our Sunday experience.
